Open access allows research publications to be freely available to everyone. The UK government is committed to open access publication of all publicly-funded scientific research.

Quality and standards
  • Charities have a duty to put useful research findings into the public domain.
  • We advise all AMRC members to include a requirement to publish (within a reasonable time frame) in the terms and conditions of their awards.
Data and impact
  • 16 AMRC members are supporting free access to biomedical literature via Europe PubMed Central
  • 6 AMRC members are providing funding for open access through a joint Charity Open Access Fund.
  • AMRC members are using Researchfish to collect evidence that their research grants have led to publications, and where these are open access
